Although I enjoy sharing wine reviews with fellow wine
drinkers, I must say that I am terribly excited writing these lines about the
soon coming wine dinner in Caravelle Hotel presenting a selection of the
fantastic wines of Baron Philippe de Rothschild, including the iconic Chateau
Mouton.
If you like wine, and even if you are not an expert you
surely have heard about the top Bordeaux wines, the Premier Grand Cru.
Currently there are only five wineries that have obtained such prestigious
name, and Chateau Mouton-Rothschild is one of them. Also known as “first
growths” this classification dates back to around 1855 and it select the best
out of the best wines in Bordeaux, not an easy job with several thousand
different wineries producing top wines in Bordeaux alone!
The rumours are that even though this dinner was officially
announced late last week, there are less than 4 spaces left, s if you really
want to be part of this unique opportunity, where you will be able to enjoy 7
of the top wines from Baron Philippe de Rothschild including Chateau Mouton
Rothschild 2007, Petit Mouton 2007 and Chateau Coutet 1995, you may wish to
urgently contact the organiser, the Wine Warehouse, at reservation@warehouse-asia.com This is a truly unique event, especially in
Vietnam, and I am sure you will be sorry if you miss it.
I will soon be writing in detail about this famous winery,
but here are some highlights:
- - Based in Pauillac, Bordeaux, France
- - Over 200 acres of vineyards
- - Most of which grow Cabernet Sauvignon ( over
70%)
- - Baron Philippe de Rothschild came up with the
idea of having each year's label designed by a famous artist of the day.
- - Artists such as Salvador Dalí, Francis Bacon,
Picasso and Miró designed labels for bottles of Mouton Rothschild.
- - In 1977, Queen Elizabeth II and the Queen Mother
visited the château and a special label was designed to commemorate the visit.
- - 95 Wine Enthusiast points for Chateau Mouton
Rothschild 2007, the star wine of the dinner
- = Some vintages obtaining 100 points, total
perfection, from experts like Robert Parker!
